Supported Accommodation – Small Steps
Small Steps provides a safe home and support for young mums aged 15 – 25 and their children.
We can support you if you are at risk of homelessness and need housing. The program also provides a nurturing support circle for you and your child.
This is a place for you and your child to grow together. You can work on your goals with the support of a caring community.
There are twelve units at Small Steps, which are all for young mums and their children. There is 24-hour onsite support, as well as dedicated program leaders and activities officers.
Mums can stay at Small Steps for up to two years.
Small Steps provides:
• Stable housing for you and your child(ren)
• Life Skills Mentor on site — to support your goals
• Staff and volunteers onsite for 24/7 support
• An unfurnished one-bedroom unit
• Help to achieve your goals such as completing your education or gaining your driver’s licence
• Activities for yourself and your children
• A supportive community of other mums and their children
• Support with parenting, life skills and budgeting
• Support to move into independent living
• Visiting hours to approved visitors
Who this service is for
Young women in Southern Tasmania aged 15 - 25 who are pregnant, or have infant or pre-school aged children.
Cost
Rent costs are calculated on a case-by-case basis
