Support for Young Carers – Care2Serve/Carer Gateway

Through Care2Serve, the Tasmanian provider of the Australian Government Carer Gateway program, young carers can access a range of support and information that can help them in their caring role.

All our services are free, inclusive and confidential. Our friendly team can help you figure out how to manage school, training, education and work while having a caring role. We offer free support such as:

  • Information, advice, and recommendations
  • Help at home with cleaning and meal preparation
  • Assistance with tutoring or providing a laptop/tablet to help you study
  • Access to a professional counsellor in a safe space
  • Goal setting with a carer coach
  • Opportunities to take a break from caring
  • Connection with other young carers
  • Attendance at wellbeing workshops and events
  • Helping you apply for an annual $3,768 young carer bursary

Who this service is for

People up to the age of 25 who help care for a family member or friend with disability, mental ill health, chronic or life-limiting illness, alcohol or other drug dependence or who is frail and aged.

How this service is delivered

    You can drop into one of our offices in Moonah, Launceston and Burnie. Please let us know in advance before visiting our offices so we can have a staff member ready to assist you. We have dedicated Young Carer Officers to assist you.
