Second Echo Ensemble

Our purpose is to develop, create and present exceptional art that challenges assumptions, shakes up stereotypes and gives voice to untold stories that result in real social change.

We don’t make art about having a disability or not having a disability. We support diverse artists to make work about life, about its surroundings, its imaginings, its rhythms, its angers and its celebrations. We wield our art practice as a force to normalise diversity in our communities.

As Tasmania’s only fully professional inclusive arts company, SEE plays a vital role in the Tasmanian arts ecosystem, ensuring that art is for everyone. We employ and deliver creative opportunities for those living with mental illness, chronic pain, disability, neuro-diversity, and long-term under-employment.

Our services include training, community workshops, mentoring, performances, exhibitions and advocacy. We mentor & employ disabled and marginalised people to work as professional artists. Our innovative programs address the barriers which prevent them from realising their ambitions and finding employment within the creative industries.

We passionately believe that everyone, everywhere, has the right to thrive, to be seen, to be heard and to be a part of our community.

Each one of us shapes the culture of Second Echo Ensemble through our words and actions. We strive to build a diverse and inclusive community that embraces learning and fosters trust—a culture where every employee can do their best work. We acknowledge:

  • We are a vibrant, beautiful and diverse community of people
  • We each bring our unique creativity to the organisation and our unique lives
  • We each face challenges and barriers to participation, equity and wellness in the workplace
  • To be truly inclusive and equitable we must embrace our differences and support each other.
