Emergency Relief Fund – CatholicCare

CatholicCare Tasmania is now offering a simpler way to assist Tasmanians who are experiencing financial hardship due to an unexpected crisis event or their current life situation.

The Emergency Relief service provides financial assistance to Tasmanians experiencing hardship due to an unexpected crisis or challenging life situations. Support includes:

  • Vouchers sent via Express Post or emailed as e-vouchers.
  • Referrals to more intensive services such as financial counselling, mental health support, loss and grief assistance, and alcohol and drug support.

Who this service is for

This service is for anyone in Tasmania facing financial hardship due to unforeseen circumstances. It is open to people of all races, beliefs, backgrounds, or economic statuses, ensuring dignity for individuals and families.

Cost

There is no cost to access the Emergency Relief service. It is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Security.

Opening Hours

The service is available:

  • Monday to Wednesday: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM

Accessibility Support

The service is delivered by CatholicCare Tasmania’s client services staff and includes:

  • Direct assistance in the form of vouchers, sent via Express Post or email.
  • Referrals to additional support services for more complex needs.
  • Telephone-based access for assessments and support.
