Community Dance and Theatre
Established in 2005, MADE (Mature Artists Dance Experience) is a not-for-profit Tasmanian-based arts organisation that provides mature adults with dance and theatre skills development opportunities and partners professional artists with non-professional dancers to create and present visually beautiful contemporary dance theatre. These works are performed by people aged 50 and over, in primarily non-traditional performance spaces.
MADE connects to audiences of all ages, communicating life experiences, reflecting on life and expressing story through dance/theatre. Audiences are offered an alternative view of the mature body and contemporary dance in a performance context.
The foundation for all that MADE does is our program of community Open Classes.
The Open Classes not only deliver the skills and understanding necessary to be able to successfully engage in quality contemporary dance/theatre performance outcomes, but also a substantial range of explicitly tangible individual physical, mental health and well being benefits.
MADE Open Classes and Movers & Shakers, for those living with neurological conditions, are currently offered in Hobart.
